WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GARDENLAND?

WE’VE GOT ANSWERS FOR YOU

Gardenland sells, repairs and rents premium zero-emission and gas-powered landscape equipment. Our customers are predominantly commercial customers such as cities, schools, municipalities and professional landscape and tree care companies. We also sell to DIY homeowners that want semi-professional quality equipment.

Gardenland has been a family owned and run business since 1960. We have always been a family run business focused on serving our customers, growing our business, and taking care of employees. Our leadership team has a background in the outdoor power equipment industry, Silicon Valley start-ups and technology companies. Our continued growth and success is dependent upon building a strong team. We are focused on empowerment, mentoring employees, and cultivating individual careers.

Gardenland Power Equipment was founded in 1960 by Ray Matsumoto. Ray served in the US Army during the Korean War, and upon returning home, he faced considerable discrimination against Asians. Unable to find a job he started his own gardening business, but quickly saw an opportunity to sell quality landscape tools to fellow gardeners, so he launched Gardenland. Ray was one of the first shops to sell gas-powered lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, weed trimmers and chainsaws.

In 1970, Glenn Kurimoto joined Ray, and the two of them grew Gardenland into the 1990s.

Richard Ogawa became the third partner in 2014, and now runs the show as CEO/President after Ray and Glenn retirement. Gardenland tripled in sales revenues after Richard joined the company.
