Outside Sales Representative

Outside Sales Representative

Summary
Gardenland is looking for an Outside Sales Representative. This is a key full-time sales position,  the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building the company brands, acquiring new clients using different methods (cold calls, etc.), and maintaining customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and open new accounts within the Bay Area.
  • Process customer orders including add-ons, deletions, and subs.
  • Process sample requests.
  • Respond to customer inquiries relating to product information, delivery times, and general information.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relations.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of prior experience in a similar role
  • Proven record of strong sales presence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations
  • Ability to learn products and acquire vendor knowledge quickly
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

Retail Sales Associate

Retail Sales Associate

Job-Type: Full-time and Part-time positions available
Our retail associates work on the front line working in a fast-paced environment servicing our wide range of customers including professional landscapers and gardeners, construction contractors, and homeowners. This is a sales and customer service focused position and you will be measured by your customer service, accuracy, punctuality, and attendance, and your ability to learn about the products we sell and to provide outstanding customer service.

You will be trained by and report to our Sales Manager, and work as a part of a high-performance retail team, meeting sales goals and using our point-of-sale system.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as cashier and check-out customers
  • Pick and pull sales orders
  • Restock retail shelf with equipment, parts, and accessories
  • Greet customers quickly and warmly as they enter our store – let them know you’re glad they’re there
  • Provide outstanding customer service that’s sincere, enthusiastic, and professional
  • Maintain a great attitude that reflects our commitment to the customer
  • Qualify customer needs, figure out what’s right for them, and get them in touch with the right person (if it’s not you!)
  • Share your knowledge of store products and services to build sales and minimize returns
  • Recommend additional merchandise that compliments customer selections
  • Use our point-of-sale and mobile point-of-sale systems to cashier and process customer purchases (we’ll train you!)
  • Be at work and be there on time – your team is counting on you!

Flexible Work Schedule
Gardenland is open 6-days a week from Monday through Saturday and we will provide flexible scheduling for 5 of those days.

Qualifications
You don’t necessarily need retail experience or a degree, but you’ll need to be a self-starter with excellent time management skills, work independently and with a cross-functional team.

  • Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish is a PLUS but not required
  • Enjoy meeting and working with customers
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and ability to use a calculator and computer
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and self-drive
  • No experience required, just a great attitude!

Physical Demands
You’ll be on your feet a lot – this job involves a lot of moving and standing (at least two consecutive hours). You’ll need to be able to lift at least 30 pounds, and may occasionally need to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach above eye level – it’s not cardio, but it’s a lot of movement! The job also involves carrying equipment and boxes between our store and warehouse.

Small Engine Mechanic

 

Small Engine Mechanic

Summary
Gardenland is looking for an experienced small engine mechanic with 2 and 4 cycle hand held powered equipment. This is a full-time position, and the ideal candidate will have experience with Stihl, Echo, Honda, ExMark, or similar brand equipment products.

Responsibilities

  • Work on 2 and 4 cycle hand held equipment
  • Welding
  • Minor electrical troubleshooting
  • Performing diagnostics of small engine equipment
  • Selecting appropriate course of action for repairs
  • Safely and effectively using tools to repair equipment
  • Testing equipment once repairs are completed and verifying that all issues have been resolved
  • Document all repairs
  • Ensuring all work orders are completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Safety: Performs all job functions safely; complies with all safety policies, procedures, and standards Maintain Working Relationships with different departments in the organization

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in a similar mechanic role
  • Experience with Stihl, Echo, Honda, ExMark, or similar brand equipment products is a plus

Assembly Technician

Assembly Technician

Summary
Gardenland is looking for an assembly and small engine technician to assembly gas and battery-powered equipment. We have full-time and part-time positions available. The person in this role will be responsible to assemble equipment, move equipment from the warehouse to the front of our store, and provide service-talks to our customers to demonstrate how the equipment works. The candidate must be confident using power tools and hand tools, and English/Spanish speakers are a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble gas-powered and battery-powered equipment
  • Safely and effectively using hand tools and power tools to assemble landscape and construction equipment
  • Testing equipment once assembled
  • Inventory count and moving equipment 
  • Ensuring all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Safety: Performs all job functions safely; complies with all safety policies, procedures, and standards Maintain Working Relationships with different departments in the organization

Required Skills:

  • Mechanical experience assembling equipment
  • Confidence and comfort using tools and power tools
  • Can lift 40-50 lbs. 
  • Comfortable working outside and inside environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

Education:

  • High-school degree
  • Technical mechanical school credential a plus
Warehouse Associate

 

Warehouse Associate

Summary
Gardenland is currently looking for a full-time Warehouse Associate. The ideal candidate will support our company’s warehouse operation. The Warehouse Associate will receive, input, sort, load and unload products and will perform other various warehouse activities.

Responsibilities

  • Organize stocks and maintain inventory.
  • Inspect products for defects and damages.
  • Examine incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Organize warehouse space.
  • Receive, unload and place incoming inventory items appropriately.
  • Check, verify and fill customer invoices.
  • Abide by all company safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized daily.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in a similar role.
  • Show a high level of ownership, accountability and initiative.
  • Show proven experience of working well within a team.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
  • Team player with organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift or move heavy products (up to 75 pounds).
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Quick learner.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.

  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License (with clean DMV record for the past 5 years).
